An Impressive NASCAR Cup Win for Kevin Harvick at Michigan

        By: Sarah Agnone

Denny Hamlin was a close second to Harvick at the Consumers Energy 400 this past weekend.

The Consumers Energy 400 took place at Michigan International Speedway this past weekend, as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular-season narrows down the championship playoff field.

Winner Kevin Harvick took home his third win from the track, after scoring first place finishes in last year’s Consumers Energy 400 and the Carfax 400. Harvick suffered a flat tire during lap 32 of the race, but quickly resecured his spot in the lead. Denny Hamlin was a close second to Harvick with a finish 1.054 seconds later.

Martin Truex, Jr., fourth place finisher, failed his inspection twice but still managed to hold first place at the end of Stage One by taking fuel-only at his stop.

Driver Kyle Busch came in first for Stage Two of the race, largely relying on a defensive driving strategy

Promising driver Brad Keselowski of Team Penske averted a number of disasters throughout the race and ended in 19th. After straightening out his No. 2 Ford Mustang with a blown rear tire, he made it to pit road in flames. Keselowski quickly recovered into third place before running out of gas.

Penske Teammate Joey Logano also maintained a promising position throughout the race, but took a gamble to skip his pit stop and ran out of fuel.
